Southern Exposure on KRNN 102.7 FM (2016-10-21) ...

Southern Exposure playlist from Friday, October 21st, 2016 from 7pm to 9pm on KRNN 102.7 FM.

I did not have time to organize a playlist like I typically do for my show - but I did have some out of print stuff show up in the mail, so I recycled my first show ( LINK ) and played stuff from the albums below.

NOTE: That link will load very slow, I have a youtube for each song I played - I quit doing that due to the amount of work involved - but in this case, enjoy!

If you like the music, please support the artists by purchasing the music from Amazon or iTunes or CDs or see them perform live.

  1. Chris Wall & the Rhythm Wranglers - Honky Tonk Heart NOTE: This album is incredibly good.
  2. Insurgent Country Volume II - (compliation)

Miss Lillian's Frozen Margarita Recipe ...

Three ingredients:
  • Tequila - nothing fancy, but not the cheap stuff, Cuervo Gold is suitable
  • Frozen Limeade mix - comes in frozen in paperboard cans just like frozen orange juice
  • Limes - lot's of em, they go fast
Use a plastic container or pitcher, not a glass one, as  it will be stored in the freezer and one does not want to risk it freezing/breaking.

Empty the can in the pitcher. Fill the can with tequila and empty into the pitcher. Using a hand lime juicer (it is a lot of work to do without a juicer), juice enough limes to fill the can and empty into the pitcher.

One third limeade - One third tequila - One third fresh lime juice - that is the mix!

Cover and place in freezer. The mix shouldn't freeze due to the alcohol unless your freezer is really cold. The benefit is two fold; you can make the mix before an event or party and it means the resulting frozen margarita is that much colder.

When ready to serve, add ice and mix to the blender. Bagged ice works best - it goes fast and home made ice can some times have a funny taste depending on the fridge/freezer. Every blender is different, so just experiment with ratios/amounts - it is easy enough to add a bit more ice or a bit more mix if you leave room in the blender.

Do NOT serve in a warm class, chill the glassware if possible.

If you want to go cadilac, add a shot of Grand Manier to the top.

Southern Exposure on KRNN 102.7 FM (2016-04-29) ...

SPECIAL EVENT: Next weeks show will be a Willie Nelson tribute, being as today (April 29th) is his birthday. I will be doing a post later this weekend with my grandmother's (Lillian) margarita recipe (she lived a full life!).

What are you doing next Friday night? That's right - you are throwing a party at your place, serving up great frozen margarita's, and celebrating Willie Nelson's 83rd birthday with all your friends. The first ever annual Southern Exposure Willie Nelson tribute will air Friday night, from 7pm to 9pm, on KRNN.

Be safe and arrange safe transportation!

NOTE: There appears to be an issue with the number of YouTubes in a single post - if they don't load properly, close your browser and reload from scratch. Be patient and let it backfill. This seems to be more a Chrome issue than a FireFox issue - but in doing final previews I have seen it and so did my wife.
